The NSW Department of Planning leads strategies and decisions to support orderly growth and employment generating activities that are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. The Department of Planning has been acquiring the land for the Western Sydney Parklands corridor over the last 30 years as part of a long term strategy for Western Sydney.
Landcom develops residential, commercial and industrial properties on behalf of the NSW Government. It is the government interface on behalf of the Department of Planning for the Doonside and West Huntingwood developments close to the Western Sydney Parklands.
Greening Australiaworks in partnership with landholders, the community, government and business to tackle environmental degradation in a practical, apolitical, scientific way. Greening Western Sydney(GWS) is a land and vegetation management project operating in the open space corridors of the Western Sydney Parklands. Greening Australia (NSW) has managed GWS in partnership with and funded by the former Department of Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources and now the NSW Department of Planning since 1992. The project undertakes ecological restoration and rehabilitation of former grazing land and degraded patches of remnant bushland. The project aims are to conserve and link threatened ecological communities on the Cumberland Plain and to develop community awareness through involvement in field and nursery work and participation in educational activities.
Blacktown Olympic Park - The Government as part of its commitment to the sporting infrastructure in the Western Sydney Parklands has committed $20 millon to constuct new facilties for football, cricket and soccer at Blacktown Olympic Park.
Research - PEOPLE AND PARKS: The Real Value of Open Space in Western Sydney is a research project funded by a four year Australian Research Council Linkage Grant provided to the University of NSW’s Faculty of the Built Environment in partnership with NSW Department of Planning.
