Key Concepts

The Western Sydney Parklands Management Vision imagines a series of diverse places, land uses and activities that are underpinned by common sustainability objectives and linked by a common physical structure of access ways and habitat links.

It identifies these diverse broad uses as Conservation Parklands, Destination Parklands and Community Parklands.

The Conservation Parklands will provide opportunities for the study and appreciation and enhancement of the area’s indigenous, cultural and environmental heritage. Interpretive, informational and educational connections will be made between the creeks, tracks and trails and flora and fauna of the Parklands and its importance as a core corridor in the ecological network of Western Sydney.

The Destination Parklands will offer a range of commercial and free activities and opportunities for employment through the creation of inter-connections in the management and promotion of the commercial, sport, recreation and amusement facilities within the park.

The Community Parklands will provide opportunities for communities to meet, gather and socialise with their friends and families. Picnic areas, play parks and community facilities will allow for structured community events and festivals while the panoramic ridge tops and secluded valleys will be places for retreat.
